A famous local district football ground once sat here, prior to the building of the current St George Leagues Club. From Geoff Armstrong's book, '100 Years of Rugby League at Arncliffe Scots', he reports of two of the hardest-fought grand finals, in back-to-back weeks, happened at this location. In Armstrong's book, the historian covers how Arncliffe Scots and Sutherland-Woronora went to war in 1957, with the first grand final going into twenty minutes of extra-time
