"In February 1908, it [NSWRL] surprised the Sydney football world by announcing it had signed up Wentworth Park for three years. Until then this was the headquarters of the Glebe Rugby Union team. Glebe's premiership pennant was still flying from the Wentworth Park masthead the day the ground's trustees signed the contract with the League."
