Multicultural Day 1993

3 Edison Ln Belmore

An official crowd of 27,804 at Belmore on Easter Monday 1993 [promoted as Multicultural Day by Canterbury-Bankstown], saw the Bulldogs smash Parramatta 42-6. But the unofficial crowd was somewhere closer to 30,000 with some of the heaving mass entering through a broken gap in a fence. Bulldogs officials later apologized for the chaos with long cues to use amenities and younger fans unable to see a minute of the action. The club blamed the late-running police for not closing the gates until 2.30pm - thirty minutes before kick-off.
