NSW Masonic Club
169 Castlereagh St Sydney
NSWRL's first president Henry Hoyle made waves on the game's first presentation night at the end of 1908 and targeted several figures, on stage, at the Masonic Hall on Castlereagh Street. Hoyle took aim at Governor-General Lord Northcote and NSW Governor Sir Harry Rawson who had promised to attend touring Māori games and no-showed at the last second. Hoyle also defended his, and fellow founders Trumper and Giltinan, that they had not made a zero cent off the new code.
