Barry Glasgow

3 Golf Ave Mona Vale

History has credited the legendary Eric Simms and his field-goal kicking as the reason NSWRL changed the field goal from 2 points to 1 in 1970 but many believe it was actually Western Suburbs centre Barry Glasgow. The bush outside back kicked 44 two-point field goals for the Magpies in 43 matches between 1967 and 1969 - many of them long-range. One included a fifty-metre shot at Kogarah in the final stages of a game against the imperious St George which ended a ten-year winning-streak at the venue. His nickname was "The Two Point Steal from Tullibigeal". He finished his career with Norths playing another 32 games. Glasgow became a favourite of the Mona Vale Golf Club in later life.
