"Butchy fell into the gutter, dead as a doornail"

113 Doncaster Ave Kensington

From the ABC's Neil Mercer in 2016:

"In late 2009 and 2010 I again interviewed Rogerson at length for a documentary The Life and Times of Roger Rogerson.

"It was essentially his chance to give his side of the story about his extraordinary life.

"He described the 1977 shooting of 'Butchy' Burns [real name Lawrence John Burns] who made the mistake of trying to rob a payroll at South Sydney Juniors.

Rogerson had been tipped off by an informant and had the joint surrounded. "Butchy" drove up in a Valiant with an accomplice but saw the police laying in wait and raised his shotgun.

Rogerson, and other officers open fire.

"By the time it [the car] got to the Doncaster Avenue turn off...it looked like your mother's colander."

"Butchy fell into the gutter, dead as a doornail."
