George Daldry
181 Elizabeth St Sydney
From Daniel Lane's Sydney Morning Herald article in 2012 about Daldry: ".... the fitness guru who included US president George Bush Snr, media magnate Kerry Packer and Prince Albert of Monaco among his thousands of disciples, died at his home in Sydney on Friday night.
"Mr Daldry, who was 88, was such an institution at the City Tattersalls Club, its gymnasium was named in his honour. It was there where bookies, businessmen, elite athletes, lawyers, judges, knockabouts and even his boss, Mr Packer, were treated as equals. Mr Daldry was a firm believer that anyone who turned up to train wanted to train hard - and he never disappointed them."
It was Daldry who set up an introduction between Parramatta's great prop and Australian representative Graham Olling and a doctor who prescribed him with steroids to keep weight on during the season. Steroids were not illegal in NSWRL at the time. Olling has publicly stated that he only took them for six weeks and made little difference.
