The Cauliflower Hotel

Built in 1838, The Cauliflower has been a major haunt for South Sydney players going back to the days of Souths Rugby Union prior to the NSWRL beginning in 1908. Souths players would entertain visiting sides post-match for decades. Famously, South Sydney's Steve Mavin had a shocker of a first half in the sudden death semi-final against Canberra at the SCG in 1987 and was hooked prior to half-time. A despondent Mavin left the SCG and watched the second half on TV from The Cauliflower. It was owned and operated by the legendary Harry Bath in the 1960s where Bath lived on-site.
