Historian and author of An Act of Bastardry - Rugby League Axes Its First Club: Glebe District Rugby League Football Club 1908-1929’s Max Solling on Patrick Skene's skeneinthegame.substack.com about the conditions of Wentworth Park and Glebe players preferring other amenities pre and post games:

"The Burton Hotel was the unofficial leagues club of the Dirty Reds, where the men would get dressed and walk down to the ground because the sheds at Wentworth Park were, in Solling’s words, “shocking”.

Solling elaborates and says champions like future Immortal Frank Burge would shower post-match out the back of the Kauri Foreshore Hotel which still operates today.
