Dave Brown Place

Bronte Beach Bronte NSW

"Brown's father, Denis "Dinny" Brown, was famously hired as Waverley Council's very first professional beach lifeguard. As part of the role, the family was given residence on-site to operate and manage the Bronte Beach Dressing Sheds. Brown spent his entire youth living right on the beach promenade, and later took over management of the sheds himself after his historic playing career ended.  Today, his permanent physical footprint in the area is immortalized at the southern end of Bronte Road [next to the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club]. The public seating area and monument square built exactly where his childhood home and surf sheds once stood is officially named Dave Brown Place in his honour" - Monument Australia
