Katoomba Hospital
1 Woodlands Rd Katoomba
NSW prop Robbie Kearns and Blues coach Wayne Pearce would like to sit this one out.
During the 1999 Origin series, Pearce replaced the old drinking, bonding sessions with a horse-riding trip in the Blue Mountains. Many remember the story of Kearns falling off a horse and breaking his shoulder but it was much worse than that. Kearns was actually knocked unconscious and sent to Katoomba Hospital. The Storm toiler missed 12 weeks from the incident. Also long-forgotten is that Brad Clyde [arguably the greatest lock in the history of the game] fell off and hurt his shoulder while Nik Kosef had an allergic reaction to his horse and suffered swollen, weeping eyes.
