"Souths' rough diamonds must be chuckling at Alan Jones' new "points system", aimed at improving discipline. It's based on the NSW's driver's license system where, if you accumulate 10 points, you lose your license. At Souths if you accumulate 10 points you are fined $1000, 15 points has your contract reviewed. Players are penalised: One point for being late for training first time, two points second time, three points third offence; three points for missing a sponsors' function or after-match function or being sin-binned or failing to secure correct medical treatment; three points for unacceptable conduct on trips" - Neil Cadigan in RLW, 1994.
