Much-loved former Kangaroos International Peter Jackson's death in 1997 shocked the rugby league world. Jackson, struggling with severe depression, died of a heroin overdose in Engadine at just 33. A centre or five-eighth, Jackson played for Canberra, Brisbane and North Sydney. He played nine Tests for Australia and 17 games for Queensland. It was later revealed that Jackson was the victim of sexual abuse as a child.
