Paul Vautin
2 Fig Tree La North Sydney
Paul Vautin could have been a North Sydney Bears legend instead of a Sea Eagle. After a breakout season in the BRL, Vautin was offered a $6000 contract by Cronulla. The Bears, under coach and former Cronulla legend Tommy Bishop, offered $7500 a season, over three years. The deal was done until Bishop called the Vautin's family home in Brisbane to tell him the Bears board had voted against it. A day later, Manly supremo Ken Arthurson rang Vautin to tell him he had been signed by the Sea Eagles. The rest is history.
